Lake Santeetlah map

Coves, campsites, boat ramps and the marina. Nearly 80% of the shoreline is Nantahala National Forest, so there is a lot of water worth exploring.

Lake Santeetlah in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina

Camping

More than 50 primitive campsites are scattered around the lake. They have no toilets, no water, no fire grills — and best of all, no fee and no permit required. Most are only reachable by boat.

Fishing

Smallmouth bass, largemouth bass and walleye are the main draw. There is also a good population of crappie, bream and lake trout. Until recently the lake held the state record for both largemouth and walleye.

A North Carolina fishing license is required and can be purchased at the marina or online through NC Wildlife.
